Each year, at its December meeting, the Ring hosts The Presidential Challenge magic competition. This members’ competition is judged by the current and past Ring presidents.
The competition is a rare chance to perform before a set of judges who provide feedback and comments on your act. Although a competition, it is also a valuable learning experience.

- Command of Self and Props

Appearance
- Personal Appearance
- Costume Quality/Appropriateness
- Comfort-level with Costume/Wardrobe
- Display of Props
Originality
- Points awarded only for display of novel ideas, routines, and presentations
Technical Skill
- Manipulative Skills
- The Practiced and Proficient Use of Magic Props
- Delivery of Patter and Appropriateness of 'Banter'
- Direction of Attention ('misdirection')
- Respect for Assistants
- Handling of Spectators or Audience Volunteers
Registration
To register to compete in the Presidential Challenge, come to the December 2006 Ring meeting on December 12th and sign-up. Only current Ring 19 IBM members are eligible to compete. You must be a Ring member to register.
