Joining Ring 19 and Your Fellow Magicians

Membership Requirements

To join the Carl W. Jones Ring #19 of the International Brotherhood of Magicians, you must be at least 15 years old, be a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians in good standing, have a keen interest in the magical arts, and a desire to explore this interest with your fellow members.

How to Join

Attend a Ring Meeting and learn a bit about us.  If you are new to the group, the Sargeant-At-Arms (the person who signs people in) can help connect you with others in the group.  If you are interested in joining, annual membership is $15 and requires a short explanation of your interest in the magical arts, and a very short performing audition.

The audition may sound scary, but it really isn’t. We are all magicians, so don’t be afraid. Relax. Have fun!  Members will often encourage you to perform at your very first meeting.  You may wish to attend a meeting, and then perform at your second meeting. The performing audition need only be one effect and needn’t be long, showy, or particularly stunning. Choose any effect in your repertoir.  If you are missing supplies, remember we meet in a magic shop and Mike, Jim or Fred will always be willing to help you find what you need! You can perform a stage/parlour/platform effect or a close-up effect.

You will also need to join the International Brotherhood of Magicians to join the Ring.  Visit the official International Brotherhood of Magicians Web site at http://www.magician.org/

Benefits

Members of the Ring can attend Ring meetings and activities, and can sell items at the Ring Flea Market and the Auction without additional fees. In addition, Ring members receive a discount on the Annual Banquet tickets and are always the first to learn about magical happenings in the Twin Cities and the region.

International Membership

Officers of the Ring attending the meeting will have IBM Membership Application Forms available. To join the International Brotherhood of Magicians, you will need to have two sponsors who are currently members. Please ask someone in the Ring about this.

The Ring cannot handle your International membership, but we can provide Membership Application Forms and help you find sponsors for your application. International membership can only be conferred by the international office in St. Louis, and this is where you will send your application. Interested in joining the IBM?
